| Question about Pets:Can silkie chickens live with ducks in the same pen? |
Ducks, guineas, turkey, quail, peafowl, pheasants, and geese can all be caged with chickens with no problem. Pretty much the only birds that shouldn't be kept with chickens is cage birds because...well...they're ment to be kept inside, unless you have a outside breeding aviary.
Silkies are very sweet little chickens and won't hurt the ducks. In fact, I used to have some ducks in the chicken lot and they followed the chickens around everywhere, roosted with them, and one of them even tried to mate with one of my bigger chickens. It was a bit strange...my ducks had tried to turn into chickens! I couldn't blame the poor fellow though, he had no female duck to befriend D:
But anyways, yes, the can be put together. The ducks and chickens can both eat the same feed, and they'll even incubate and raise each others eggs if they happen to lay in the same nest.
Hope I helped, and good luck with your silkies! :]
