| Question about Pets:My cockatiel looks a little sick? |
The best way to determine if your bird is sick or not is to look at his usual behavior. Sure, there are signs of sickness across the board, like sleeping more than usual, being puffed up a lot, red/runny nose, coughing, sneezing, sitting on the bottom of the cage, diarrhea, any change in consistency of feces, loss of appetite, inactivity, loss of balance, inability to perch/fly, etc. Every bird is different, though, so it is easier to analyze your bird on the individual level. If your bird is usually really active and only sits on his/her perch but now he/she is sitting on the bottom of the cage not moving, he/she is probably sick.
From the symptoms you gave, I would say to keep an eye on him/her because cockatiels illness can develop and advance rapidly, but your bird does not sound sick to me. Maybe he is about to start moulting (they become very moody then), or maybe he is wanting to mate. There are many things that could be causing your teil to act this way. Just keep a check on him and hopefully it will pass. Good luck!!!
