Question about Pets:What species is this type of bird ?

Is this a pet bird as opposed to a wild bird that you watch from your backyard?

If it is a pet, I venture to guess it is a parakeet (US) aka Budgie (UK).

My experience with birds are that they need to handled from birth so they get used to people right away, otherwise they remain skittish. The more you handle the bird, let it ride on your shoulders in the home, etc., the more they get used to you.
