| Question about Pets:Why did my African Grey parrot die overnight? Parrot owners only, please.? |
The best way is to do a necropsy at an avian vet.
But there could be many reasons why you grey died.
It could be from overheated teflon. It's a deadly killer of birds. Teflon is used on non-stick pans, some space heaters, most hair dryers, and baking pans.
It could also be from something your grey has accidentally ingested, like pieces of string from a toy that could impact the gizzard, or a piece of metal from a toy that could have impacted the crop. Or even shards of the backing of a cuttlebone that could have pierced the inside of the bird's esophagus.
Maybe even foods that the grey has eaten, when you weren't looking. Chocolate, avocado, alcohol, caffeine, and certain other foods can kill a bird.
Follow kimba's instructions and take the bird for a necropsy.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
