Question about Pets:How will your bird do when you are gone?

Contact with as many people as possible. Period.
Interaction, perching, talking, feeding.....................

I had a senegal that I thought was socialized. I left him with friends for a couple weeks and he almost died.
Seems that every night when I fed him, we played little games with hiding food and food play.
He didn't do well at all when a dish of food was just placed into his cage. Nearly starved to death.

Also, make sure friends and family wash their hands BEFORE handling bird. They can pick up disease, chemicals, medicines from a person's skin.
You are doing right by thinking ahead to your parrots welfare.
Well done.
I inherited a large parrot from a relative (they had for over 25 years). It was bonded VERY strongly with my uncle and no one else.
It took me 3 years to get it to accept other people. I've socialized him well because it's a good bet that he will outlive me and end up with someone again.
I have friends with a scarlet macaw, the bird is over 65 years old and with the 3rd generation of owners.
