| Question about Pets:I need help about my parakeet? |
You need to remove any male from her sight and remove any mirrors, happy hut, nesting box or any stimulation from her cage.
If she is exhibiting any signs of laying you need to change what you are doing. If she is getting sick when she lays, it's something that YOU are doing per her diet (seed) that is doing this. She is not in the right condition to lay!! I can't stress this enough. If you keep going down this road, your hen will ulitimatly pay the price with her life.
She should NOT have been bred like this for her short life span. You need to take action NOW, or you will lose her. Move her to another room and change the things in her cage to disturb what she is doing. There is bedding out on the market to use so that paper is not available for her to make a nest.
Changing her diet is the main thing at this point. But you need to consult a vet because i think she has an underlying problem that needs to be checked. She may have come in contact with Giardia from your water supply if you have been using tap water.
The babies should have been removed from the small cage you provided for the whole family. It was to small for all of them when they fledged the nest. This is common when you don't hand feed at the proper time, or allow the parents to feed them. Did you know it's law the babies should have been banded? Did you also know you just help put more birds into rescues?
Remove the stimulation that is making her want to nest!!!
