| Question about Pets:What do doves eat? are they clean? are they hard to take care of? |
Firstly, I cannot understand why someone would not want doves!
Alot of people turn their noses up at these wonderful creatures, but if they took 10 minutes out of their lives just to watch, listen and feed them they would know just how wonderful they really are. I'm pleased to hear you are generous enough to take in these birds, thanks for caring!
What do doves eat?
It depends on what species of dove you are talking about, most birds will settle for wild bird seed but during the mating season you will need to give them some calcium suplement. Grit will also need to be in constant supply.
Are they clean?
As long as you provide them with a clean supply of water at least once daily they will keep them selves clean but as far as the cage/loft/aivary is concerned it will need cleaned out at least once a week.
Hard to take care of?
Not at all, you just give them the food and water and they do the rest, you might want to train them for dove releases etc, but it isn't hard work!
